Who We Are

Our Core Values

Commitment to Excellence

In every facet of our organization, we remain committed to providing excellence – excellence in our staff, our services, our leadership and the difference we make in the lives of those we serve.

We empower individuals with disabilities with the highest quality support services, which allow them to make better decisions of where they live, work, and play.

Our mission supports a team approach that recognizes the value, commitment and diversity of each participant and maximizes his/her contribution and advancement in our society.

Service Above Self

The Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and supporters of our agency put the interests and needs of those we serve above all else.

We operate all aspects of this organization to reflect good stewardship and application of sound business practices, while demonstrating proper utilization of existing resources and generating new revenue sources to maximize opportunities for our participants.

Our Story

We have to teach them things they haven’t done before so they can be challenged. And then we have to give them plenty of praise because this is what we work for, not money. We work for gratification. Money pays the bills and that’s fortunate. We want somebody to tell us we’ve done a good job. These folks are no different from anybody else. — Geraldine Schwartz, Founder of WORC

In our on-going commitment to provide the highest quality services, our agency strives for perfection and has achieved the highest honors from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), placing us at the top 3% of all CARF-accredited agencies in the country.

WORC, Inc. remains at the forefront of service delivery for individuals with disabilities and offers a continuum of care, which enriches the lives of those we serve throughout their lifespan.

Our History

WORC was founded by Geraldine and Vance Schwartz in 1969 after recognizing the need for an organization to develop work skills and provide job training for people with disabilities.

Since our inception, we have placed thousands of individuals with disabilities in competitive employment in Volusia and Flagler counties. In January of 2005, WORC became an affiliate of United Cerebral Palsy, one of the largest national health charities in America. In October, 2013, we returned to our founding name of WORC, Inc. and disaffiliated from United Cerebral Palsy and brought back the connection that WORC, Inc. serves ALL disabilities in our community.
